MARKOPOLO Researchers Showcase Environmental Health Research at EXPOHEALTH and SFRR-E 2026
Last week, MARKOPOLO partners participated in the EXPOHEALTH Preconference Symposium and the SFRR-E Annual Meeting in Mainz, Germany, contributing to discussions on environmental exposures, redox biology, and human health.
The EXPOHEALTH symposium brought together researchers from a wide range of disciplines to explore how environmental factors such as air pollution, noise, climate hazards, and non-optimal temperatures affect human health. MARKOPOLO researchers presented findings on the role of oxidative stress and redox mechanisms in pollution-related disease, covering topics including cardiovascular and neurological impacts of ultrafine particulate matter, implications for Alzheimer’s disease, and innovative computational approaches to modelling pollution-induced damage.
The scientific programme also featured presentations on the health effects of temperature extremes and computational modelling of climate hazards and air pollution interactions, highlighting the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in addressing environmental health challenges.
Following the symposium, MARKOPOLO researchers took part in the SFRR-E Annual Meeting, where they delivered oral presentations and engaged with the international redox research community. The conference provided an excellent opportunity to exchange knowledge, strengthen collaborations, and discuss emerging research on the mechanisms linking environmental exposures to disease.
Participation in both events reflects MARKOPOLO’s commitment to advancing research on pollution-related health impacts and fostering collaboration across disciplines to support healthier and more sustainable environments.
